Hereditary actress, Toni Collette has been cast in Joe Penna’s sci-fi thriller Stowaway joining Anna Kendrick.

Collette will play a commander in the film, while Kendrick plays a medical researcher.

The story revolves around a mission headed to Mars, where an unintended stowaway accidentally causes severe damage to the spaceship’s life support systems. Facing dwindling resources and a potentially grim outcome, a medical researcher (Kendrick) emerges as the only dissenting voice against the clinical logic of both her commander (Collette) and the ship’s biologist.

Directed by Penna, who makes his second feature film debut, the film has a script from Ryan Morrison and Penna. Penna and Morrison worked together on ‘Arctic’ which premiered at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival and will see a general release in February.

Morrison will also serve as executive producer. XYZ Films will produce alongside Augenschein Filmproduktion and Rise Pictures.

Collette’s who has to be one of the most consistently brilliant actress of the moment was last seen saw in the horrifying thriller ‘Hereditary’ her upcoming projects include Netflix’s ‘Velvet Buzzsaw’ with Jake Gyllenhaal and Renee Russo, as well as ‘Knives Out’ with Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, and Ana de Armas.

Kendrick, who has remained a constant in the Pitch Perfect franchise, was last seen opposite Blake Lively in ‘A Simple Favour’, her upcoming projects include comedy ‘The Day Shall Come’ and ‘Noelle’ where she will play Santa’s daughter Nicole alongside Bill Hader and Shirley Maclaine.
